A fruit acid peel or chemical peel is a dermo-cosmetic procedure that provokes increased regeneration of the skin. It is applied in a controlled and safe manner using chemical substances.
This is a method of renewing the skin and improving or completely removing unwanted features. In an acid treatment, the keratinized cells of the skin are removed. This triggers a controlled stimulus on the skin and the skin begins to renew itself. This process stimulates the production of collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycan and thus improves the mechanical and physiological properties of the skin.
Aims of a chemical peel:
- Deep cleansing of the skin and oxygenation.
- Reinforce the epidermis.
- Even skin texture and luminosity.
- Refinement of the pores, improvement of the skin texture.
- Elimination of signs of ageing and wrinkles.
- A fresh, even and balanced complexion.
- Reduction of pigment spots / melasma and shadows.
- Reduction of acne as well as acne scars.
Classification
Chemical peels can be divided into four levels, depending on the depth of effect and the strength of the peel in question:
- Very superficial – evens out the skin tone and restores luminosity
- Superficial – stimulates the growth of epidermal cells by exfoliating the stratum corneum. A light peeling process starts after 2-4 days.
- Medium-deep – medium-deep peelings affect the papillary dermis and produce a stronger peeling. The entire epidermis is rebuilt.
- Deep peels – lead to a desired inflammation in the reticular dermis, the collagen and elastin fibers are rebuilt. The skin reaction is very strong and the healing process can take several weeks.
